#Greenspaces or #Greenbacks?

Another one of our few City of Miami green spaces is being considered for redevelopment by greedy city officials. Instead of seeing Maurice Ferré Park as a space for recreation and more crucially, as an important piece of the puzzle to keeping our city resilient as seas rise, city officials only see the money. When you have a commissioner using phrases like "Part of the city’s chronic budget problem is we’ve got valuable properties that sit idle", you can gather that their definition of 'value' is monetary rather than enjoyment and ecosystem benefits. The city needs to find other ways to increase revenue aside from clearing the few 'environmentally valuable' spaces remaining in this city.
